Unfortunately, these sessions will not be covered by OHIP. It is an out-of-pocket cost unless you have private health insurance benefits that cover Dietitians. Some Dietitians that work under institutions, such as hospitals, family health teams and community health centres, are covered by OHIP.
E-transfer or credit card is acceptable.
Please feel free to email or call me any time! I will try to get back to you within 24 hours. Generally speaking, I discourage use of texting to contact me as it's not a safe means of protecting your privacy when it comes to healthcare information.
Unfortunately, during the pandemic, all appointments will be virtual via an app called Doxy.me, which provides health information encryption. (Please visit: https://doxy.me/en/patients/ for more information about the application. No downloads are necessary.) After the pandemic restrictions are lifted, there is a high likelihood that virtual visits may become the norm as there are conveniences (such as seeing patients that live too far to visit in-person), but in-person visits at my office will still be available when it's safe to do so for those that prefer it.
I mainly specialize in eating disorders/disordered eating and childhood nutrition. Under the wide umbrella of childhood nutrition, my main focus is childhood obesity, picky eating behaviours and behavioural feeding issues. Examples of disordered eating issues include: orthorexia, healthy eating challenges while struggling with mental health illness (potentially related to lifestyle or medications) or antipsychotic medications contributing to weight gain or increased risk of prediabetes/diabetes.
The initial nutrition session would start with a discussion on your goals and how I can help you reach them, followed by a comprehensive nutrition assessment. We would collaborate to create an individualized meal plan and set a few small goals to work on before the next visit. Subsequent nutrition sessions would involve reviewing how the smaller goals and the meal plan went, what were some successes and troubleshooting the barriers to success, then the plan would get tweaked and more or different goals would be set, repeating the cycle to work towards reaching your ultimate goal.
